Electronic Medical Records: Elevating National Digital Health Initiatives in Asia/Pacific

By: Manoj VallikkatResearch Manager, Gerald WangHead, Asia Pacific Public Sector, Aparna Reddappagari

Abstract

This IDC report highlights the necessity for healthcare providers to adopt an electronic medical record (EMR) system, especially with the acceleration of digital health after the COVID-19 pandemic. The report analyzes various government drives toward EMR adoption in Asia/Pacific along with regulations and policies in place. Specific case examples of both EMR implementation and value creation were captured to get the regional pulse toward EMR adoption. Four-phased guidelines are expected to add value to tech buyers.

"Along with the increased adoption of digital health, the focus on EMR is at an all-time high. Regarding EMR adoption, the question has now changed from 'when' to 'how'. One-size-fits-all solutions will never be the right approach. Focus on the final value creation and collaborate closely with tech vendors to combat the resistance against EMR adoption," says Manoj Vallikkat, research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific Healthcare Insights.
