How Are Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Enterprises Preparing to Secure Their Hybrid Work Environments?

By: Pushkaraksh ShanbhagAssociate Research Director

Abstract

As enterprises increasingly pivot to hybrid workplace, security considerations about how they can most effectively secure this highly distributed environment is beginning to take center stage. The IDC Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Enterprise Services and Security Sourcing Survey (2021) reveals that cloud-based security controls have emerged as a leading enabler of secure hybrid work across the region and across industry verticals, validating the role of the cloud in rapidly deploying new and innovative security capabilities at scale. Additionally, many enterprises have moved to increase the capacity of their existing VPN deployments rather than replace them with transformative alternatives such as SD-WAN/SD-Edge, and others, suggesting that hybrid work models will provide an unexpected boost to some proven, security-centric legacy technologies, at least in the short term.
