How Is the State of Hybrid Multicloud in Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan)?

By: William LeeResearch Director

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight shows data from the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ) sample of IDC's 2020 Cloud Pulse 2020 Survey. The Cloud Pulse Survey is IDC's premiere global benchmarking survey, is fielded in quarterly, and looks at IT customers' current and future cloud investments and adoption rates, multicloud and hybrid cloud behaviors, and cloud workloads and economics.

This IDC Survey Spotlight shows that majority (over 80%) of enterprises in the region are operating in a hybrid and/or multicloud environment, with a mix of private and public infrastructures. Half of these organizations require workloads and data interoperability between the different types of cloud. Most of the interoperability happens with private cloud, which aligns with the preference for a public cloud stack on private cloud infrastructure solutions (local cloud as a service) for ease of management and workload portability.
