India Opens Regulatory Valves for the Telecom Sector

By: Yash JethaniResearch Manager, Hugh UjhazyVice President, IoT and Telecommunications

Abstract

This IDC Market Note discusses high-level telecom policy pointers that could help Indian communications SPs (CSPs) in the long term, both operationally and strategically.

"Governance resiliency was much needed for the telecom sector in India ― and the new ministry has taken a conscious effort in dispelling long-term concerns of operators and investors," according to Yash Jethani, research manager, Asia Pacific (excluding Japan), at IDC. "The next step is to have a deeper focus and coordination from all government departments for continued innovation in the 5G era even as it promotes partner-centric enterprise business models for telcos," he added.
