Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation examines the current economic outlook and COVID-19 pandemic recovery status of technology-oriented value chain (TOVC) organizations in Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ). This study also discusses business concerns and priorities within TOVC firms. Investments in digital initiatives and their key drivers are elaborated with use cases highlighting the challenges and implementation benefits from this technology solution. More so, a brief discussion on shaping a strategic plan in addressing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals for TOVC industries is presented.

"A TOVC organization needs to be agile and flexible to remain competitive in a dynamic and fast-paced market. In addition to generating business revenue, TOVC organizations are obliged to meet stricter environmental standards. This objective can be achieved with prudent strategic planning and close collaboration with ecosystem partners. It is crucial for an organization to recognize the value of establishing an ecosystemwide synergy in connectivity, visibility, and traceability for short- and long-term sustainability goals and other new opportunities for the business," says Wai Yee Lee, research manager, IDC Manufacturing Insights.
