Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective highlights the organizations' need to lay out hybrid and multicloud management strategies. Cloud adoption across the India market is analyzed, along with the ongoing trend of hybrid multicloud strategies across India organizations. The challenges in maintaining such environments are discussed to highlight the need for management strategies.

India organizations are progressing from leveraging the cloud as an alternative to using a combination of public/private cloud and traditional infrastructure software/equipment. Additionally, leveraging cloud options continues to be at the forefront of digital transformation–related priorities and investments. Furthermore, hybrid cloud and multicloud strategies are coexisting across a significant share of organizations, thus increasing the IT environment complexity from a management point of view.

"Hybrid and multicloud computing practices are increasingly becoming popular among India organizations. However, visibility around costs, security, networking, data, and so forth becomes complex as organizations scale their cloud footprint. Post-pandemic, when the macroeconomic headwinds are significant, it is critical to have a single pane of reference for managing hybrid multicloud environments. Organizations should leverage different approaches that suit their business needs to effectively manage and take advantage of their hybrid multicloud environment," says Rithika Ponnala, senior market analyst, Digital Transformation research practice, India.

"With organizations increasingly turning to connected cloud architectures that span public, private, hybrid, and multicloud environments, organizations need to get equipped with the tools required to control over the infrastructure, platforms, applications, cloud provider, and cloud service provider resources, as well as data," says Neha Gupta, senior research manager, Digital Transformation research practice, India.

Overall, this IDC study emphasizes the need for different management approaches and tools that work across multiple cloud and hybrid cloud architectures.
