This IDC study presents a 2022 market share analysis of the top telecom service providers in the New Zealand telecommunications market. The New Zealand telecom service provider market is dominated by the three mobile network operators that offer a full suite of services, including mobile services, on-net and off-net fixed services, and enterprise services. However, the market share of the top 3 providers — Spark, One New Zealand, and 2degrees — continues to slowly dwindle as smaller "rest of market" players experienced connection growth year over year.
According to Wiji Gedera, senior market analyst, A/NZ Telecommunications at IDC, "The overall growth in the market is being driven by two areas. First, mobile pay monthly connections are growing as customers continue to find value in providers' 'Endless Data' plans. Second, the fixed broadband market continues to grow; however, IDC does see this growth slowing because of high household penetration, with further growth mainly arising from broadband connections in greenfield developments."
