IDC Innovators are emerging vendors with revenue <$100 million that have demonstrated either a groundbreaking business model or an innovative new technology — or both. This IDC Innovators study profiles Miovision, Intelligent Mechatronic Systems (IMS), Aware360, and HealthIM that are applying mobile platforms and analytics to meet their goal of preventing and responding to accidents and medical emergencies. Technology is not only making it easier to get around town but is also making the trip safer. "The four IDC Innovators are applying mobile platforms and analytics to meet their goal of preventing and responding to accidents and medical emergencies," says Mark Schrutt, strategic advisor, Innovation and Public Sector Research, IDC Canada.
Miovision, which has captured traffic data for 17,000 municipalities, enables cities to dynamically optimize transportation, including first responder management. IMS' DriveSync technology is used by governments for usage-based tolls and emissions monitoring, insurance companies to develop new plans for safe drivers, and individuals to improve their driving behavior. Aware360's health and safety solutions monitor and help protect lone workers, students, and others access to help. HealthIM fills a significant gap by providing police tools that help address mental health situations.
