The 2018 Canadian IT Skills Gap Report

Abstract

This IDC Survey explores how Canadian companies approach IT skills shortages. IDC's research suggests that the Canadian IT skills gap in 2017 was estimated to be 42,000 full-time equivalent (FTE). This number represents the total number of FTE roles that were unfilled due to the lack of internal resources or an inability to directly recruit IT staff in a satisfactory manner. This document also explores the types of positions that are experiencing IT skills shortages and the strategies used by Canadian companies to address these shortages and shows the lack of IT skills gap in 3rd Platform and innovator accelerator technologies.
