Data-Driven Solutions to the Gender Gap in Technology

By: Meng CongSenior Analyst, Measurement and Forecasting

Abstract

This IDC Perspective focuses on the approaches to help solve existing issues in gender bias by using data analytics tools to improve hiring processes and work environments to achieve greater gender diversity.

"The majority of companies are aware that the representation of women in the technology industry is persistently low, which is largely caused by a biased hiring process and insufficient support for employee retention. Companies can use data analytics and machine learning tools to address systemic gender bias to bring more women into the technology workforce and retain them as they progress through their careers," according to Meng Cong, senior analyst, Measurement and Forecasting, IDC Canada.
