This IDC study examines the growing impact of digital transformation (3rd Platform and innovation accelerators) on IT and business services markets. 3rd Platform technologies, the combination of pillar (cloud, big data/analytics, mobility, and social) and innovation accelerators (AI, IoT, blockchain, next-generation security, robotics, AR/VR, and 3D printing) are increasing as a percentage of IT spending in Canada. Businesses in this country are also adopting these solutions at varying rates based on the applicability of resources and the applicability of these technologies to the achievement of specific business outcomes.
"Despite the recent economic and societal issues associated with COVID-19 and its impact on IT services spending, 3rd Platform technologies are growing as a proportion of the total market. The face of business competitiveness has changed in recent years, and the attainment of goals related to business performance will require the application and extension of 3rd Platform technologies and solutions," says Jim Westcott, research manager, IDC Canada.
