TECH SUPPLIER May 2021 - Market Forecast - Doc # CA46287321
Canadian Consumer TV Services Forecast, 2021–2025
Abstract
This IDC study examines the forecast for Canadian consumer TV services subscribers and revenue. It also addresses the factors shaping the market as well as the key drivers and inhibitors underlying the forecast.
"The push and pull effect of COVID-19-related stay-at-home restrictions, consumers' need to entertain themselves within their homes, and the increased availability and usage of OTT video service/content over the past year, when coupled with the purse-tightening impact of continuing COVID-19-related economic impact will inevitably cause consumers to rethink their monthly spend," says Manish Nargas, research manager, Consumer Services and Mobility at IDC. "TV service providers will have to remain cognizant of the downward pressure on the value proposition of traditional TV service on account of these changes and build strategies that look to build loyalties/make the service stickier. Afterall, the cost of losing a subscriber today will most certainly outweigh the dollars they spend today."
