Adoption of Unified Communications and Collaboration, 2021
By: Megha Kumar Research Director, Software and Cloud Services
Abstract
This IDC Survey examines the adoption of unified communication and collaboration (UC&C) solutions in Canada. It covers the features that are being used/planned to be used by organizations as well as the impact of COVID-19 on these features. It further explores the adoption of unified communication as a service (UCaaS) as well as its benefits, concerns around adoption, and barriers to adoption. This survey draws responses from 300 organizations surveyed as part of IDC Canada's 2020 IT Advisory Panel n4. It covers responses from IT decision-making functions within medium-sized (100–499) and large (500+) organizations.
"There is a growing trend toward using cloud-based UC&C or UCaaS, driven by the need for scalability and flexibility as well as cost efficiencies. More importantly, one of the benefits of UCaaS is business continuity/disaster recovery, which has been critical over the past several months. It will be a major factor that will continue to drive UCaaS adoption in the country." — Megha Kumar, research director, Software and Cloud, IDC Canada
