What Is the Role of Managed Service Providers in Delivering Cloud Services in Canada?
Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight examines Canadian market opinion on the role of the managed service provider in delivering client service engagements that incorporate public cloud services from other providers. In traditional managed IT service engagements that used third-party solutions to fulfill client requirements, the managed service provider typically had more power than other vendors supplying a solution. The growing strength of hyperscale public cloud service providers has changed the power dynamic, which has resulted in changing the role of the managed service provider. This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights preferences among Canadian organizations as to which provider type — the managed service provider or the public cloud service provider or both — most suits several key engagement characteristics. The results shared are based on IDC Canada's IT Advisory Panel n7, which was fielded in December 2020. Respondents were from Canadian organizations from a cross-section of industries, regions, and company sizes.
