Do Canadian IT Decision Makers Understand 5G?

By: Nigel WallisResearch Vice President, IoT and Industries

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines the level of awareness that Canadian IT decision makers have of 5G. This document contains data from IDC Canada's IT Advisory Panel (ITAP), which was completed in January 2021. IDC conducted this survey to better understand the current path of industrial and enterprise IoT deployments in Canada.

"Canadian IT decision makers are familiar with 5G, but not especially knowledgeable. While 5G has dominated thinking and spending for years within the connectivity vendor landscape, their clients and prospects are focused on the day-to-day issues of their business and their sector. As a result, communications technology vendors need to use the industry-specific language of their prospects. They need to think of positioning marketing, sales, and service in terms of helping Canadian businesses enhance and automate their workflow, business processes, change management, and cultural change," explains Nigel Wallis, research VP, IoT and Industries at IDC Canada."
