On What Technology Challenges Are Canadian IT and Business Executives Most Aligned, and What Are the Conflicting Areas?

By: Jason BremnerResearch Vice President, Industry and Business Solutions, Anu MehtaSenior Research Analyst, Canadian IT Markets

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines the Canadian market opinion on the technology challenges faced by line of business (LOB) and IT executives in Canada. Security is the top concern for both IT and business executives. With a huge upswing in remote work and more frequent cyberattacks, security is expected to have the greatest impact on digital transformation in the next 12 months. More IT executives see business continuity, finding IT talent, and app modernization as critical concerns than LOBs. The results shared are based on the IDC Canada's 2021 Top Executive Survey, which interviewed 143 executive respondents — 100 senior non-IT LOB roles and 43 CIO/senior IT roles — fielded in August 2021. Respondents were from Canadian organizations from a cross-section of industries, regions, and company sizes.
