The PC and tablet markets in the MEA region, as well as those around the world, have been steady declining over the last few years. Owing to falling levels of consumer demand and stiffer competition, several vendors in the region are increasing focused on maintaining margins rather than market share. A number of white box players have also pulled out from the regional tablet market to focus on other technologies. At the same time, local players that offer PCs, tablets, and other accessories — such as i-Life, Touchmate, Casper, and Condor Electronics — have emerged and gained market share from white box players and large established vendors. This paper discusses the impact of local players on the regional PC and tablet markets.
