The Shift to Digital and What It Means for Page Volumes in META

By: Roberto AlunniSenior Research Manager, IPDS, MEA

On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Presentation was given in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on January 23, 2019.

The trend for public- and private-sector organizations to go fully digital is one that is impacting both developed and developing economies alike. Increasingly, we are seeing public services across the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META) being offered through digital channels. IDC page volume data allows for a forecast of printed page volume decline and provides an outlook for the region-wide print industry over the next five years

End users are still spending a considerable amount on printing, but vendors need to start offering digital, as well as paper, document solutions, which will help end users manage this "hybrid" document phase. Every print vendor needs to know what issues end users are facing today, how to address them, and where they should focus their efforts for growth. IDC research and surveys help vendors and their channels to understand some of the key issues encountered during the three phases of digitization projects: partner selection, planning, and implementation.

"Vendors need to be aware of the market’s challenges and how to address them. This will be very important during the transition phase from paper to digital, as customers will be making decisions about establishing long-term partnerships." — Senior Research Manager Roberto Alunni, IDC Middle East and Africa
