This IDC study provides an update on IDC's China IoT market outlook at a technology and vertical industry level for the period of 2016–2021. It provides forecast on the spend projections from the same split perspective. This document also highlights key considerations for technology suppliers in the continuously evolving and complex market, including the estimated driving and restricting factors to the growth.
There is an increasing trend in recent years that the demand for business IoT pilot projects has evolved into the deployment of IoT solutions, widely in maturity-isolated usage scenarios. The end users who deployed IoT solutions have started to extend their solutions by means of emerging IoT technologies or integrating isolated IoT solutions that already exist. These end users have started to benefit from IoT, hence their positive and optimistic attitude toward emerging IoT technologies. The acceleration of vertical industry–based IoT solutions will replace the earlier business scenario–based IoT solution. It represents a potential and more profitable market. "All technology suppliers, especially SPs and software vendors, need to consider extensibility across multiple use cases of their customers," says Antonio Liu, market analyst, IDC China.
