Abstract

This IDC TechScape evaluates and analyzes China's data security market systemically. The IDC TechScape model visualizes the stages of different data security technology developments and divides data security technologies into transformational, incremental, and opportunistic technologies. According to market research results, this study analyzes the deployment of different technologies, the risks of deployment, market popularity, technical advantages, and disadvantages, and provides a list of recommended vendors for each technology to help end users better select the appropriate technology SPs while understanding the technology development stage and content in order to empower end-user data security system construction.

"2021 is an important year for the development of China's data security industry. During this year, a series of related laws and regulations including the Data Security Law and the Personal Information Protection Law were formally promulgated. At the national level, data has been clarified strategically as the important production factor of the new era for security. Data security compliance and personal privacy protection have become the annual buzzword. In this context, traditional data security technologies centered on data leak prevention, data encryption, and data masking have ushered in more development opportunities. In addition, new concepts, new technologies, and new fields such as privacy computing, blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and zero trust have also entered a golden period of development. In the future, keeping eyes on compliance and demands to enable security through the full life cycle of data as the core, and helping users build a comprehensive data security governance system will become a big trend. Various data security and cryptographic technologies will serve as the key capability modules in the governance system to help users build a capability ecosystem and ultimately empower users to achieve data security governance goals," said Sophia Wang, Network Security market analyst, IDC China.
