Leeds: A Best Practice in Health and Social Care Integration Among European Smart Cities

Author: Massimiliano Claps
Abstract

This IDC study analyzes the City of Leeds' approach to integrating health and social care data. Leeds is a front-runner in the integration of health and social care services. The City of Leeds provides lessons on how to align strategic vision, culture, process, technology, and data to move forward the agenda of health and social care integration.

"Local government and public health executives embarking on digital transformation to integrate health and social care data should set a long-term strategy that focuses on region or city health and well-being as an inclusive place for all residents, rather than focusing on the siloed priorities of each public service institution. They should also engage with the ecosystems, including local SMEs, NGOs, and citizens at the neighborhood level," said Massimiliano Claps, associate vice president, IDC Government Insights and IDC Health Insights in EMEA.
