This IDC study forecasts the Nordic market for public cloud services, presenting country-specific data for infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, and SaaS infrastructure.
In 2015, the market reached €1.5 billion, growing an astonishing 40% over 2014. Although growth was inflated by price increases, IaaS and PaaS showed impressive growth due to both deeper and wider adoption.
The public cloud services market is projected to grow 21% annually from €1.5 billion in 2015 to €4 billion in 2020. Growth is driven by cloud's ability to better support businesses, as they are transformed digitally. In addition, end users' growing experience and comfort propel demand, while vendor and developer preference for cloud ensures the availability of more services and better quality.
"Companies' spending on public cloud services will continue their double-digit growth at least through the forecast period, as both end users and vendors increasingly prefer cloud over traditional delivery and consumption models," said Anders Elbak, research manager, IDC Nordic. "It is essential that vendors understand the implications on the market, buying criteria, and purchasing processes, as well as adapt to the cloud-first future."
