On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey analyzes the increasingly larger role of lines-of-business (LOB) on IT investments, defining their control over IT budgets across Western European industries. The study also provides a cross-industry analysis of business-funded IT spending in Western Europe, outlining key areas where LOBs prefer to move away from IT departments' control.

"Technology is becoming easily available and accessible to everyone, therefore companies in Europe are witnessing the surge of business-funded IT investments. By 2021, LOBs will fund half of the IT spending, meaning that business managers will increasingly make decisions independently and without the approval of IT departments," said Andrea Minonne, research analyst, IDC Customer Insights and Analysis.

This Survey is based on the results of the IDC's European Vertical Markets Survey, 2017 and on IDC's Worldwide Semiannual IT Spending Guide: Line of Business, 1H17.
