Abstract

This IDC Market Forecast provides an updated forecast by functional market for the European DevOps software market and the European DevOps services market as of November 2018. IDC defines DevOps software as being made up of selected portions of IDC functional markets spanning automated software quality (ASQ), deployment-centric application platforms, IT automation and configuration management (ITACM), IT operations management (ITOM), project and portfolio management (PPM), and software change, configuration, and process management (SCCPM). Refer to the Market Definition section for further details. DevOps services relate to third-party services that are sold in project-based or fully outsourced service delivery models by systems integrators, full-service outsourcers, or specialized DevOps service providers to enterprises.

"In Europe, it's no longer about whether organizations should adopt DevOps, it is now about getting DevOps right and scaling it across the enterprise. Organizations must embrace business-centric collaboration and enable DevOps–led business transformation. Scaling DevOps requires progress across multiple segments of the software delivery pipeline. The next stage of the journey requires a focus on enabling modern application architectures, infra and application modernization, automation, and putting in place more modern and measurable key performance indicators," said Jennifer Thomson, research director, IDC Application Development and Deployment Strategies.
