This IDC Perspective provides an overarching vision for the technology architecture that organizations need to strive toward to scale digital transformation (DX) initiatives across the enterprise. It will form the basis for a series of follow on documents that will explore each element of the DX platform (intelligent core, data, integration and orchestration, development, and engagement) in more detail.
"We have tried to help the industry envision a future technology architecture that underpins DX initiatives in the enterprise over the next 3-5 years," said Philip Carter, chief analyst, IDC Europe. "Remember that it is a concept. It also does not mean that foundational IT services go away. There is still a need for IT governance, architecture, integration, and development services. We see them as enablers for this new way of looking at technology architecture going forward. These enablers will be explored in more detail in the follow-up set of documents."
