This presentation was delivered during the keynote speech at the HIMSS Impact-Big Data in Medicine conference (https://www.himssimpact.eu/) in Potsdam (Berlin, Germany) on November 21, 2017.
Big data and artificial intelligence are headline words when it comes to the future of healthcare. From public health to care personalization to the future of work for clinicians, expectations around the impact of big data and AI are at times astonishing and at times alarming. Adoption in European healthcare is uneven, and most of the ongoing projects have a limited impact on the strategic objectives of healthcare providers. This presentation looks at how to cross the chasm, starting from implementing a broader and more strategic approach to healthcare data governance and management. It looks at the potential of big data and analytics and AI in the context of value-based health, and how to accelerate the pathways to digital transformation through these technologies.
