Authors: Jonas Knudsen, Adriana Allocato
On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey presents results from the IDC European Vertical Markets Survey conducted in 3Q17 among 141 hospitals and 63 other healthcare providers in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the U.K., the Netherlands, and the Nordics. IDC analyzed the business initiatives driving the healthcare providers and how security is prioritized on a strategic level.

This study presents the highlights of the analysis, which indicates that security and data protection is the top business priority for CY18. Regulatory compliance is also a top priority for healthcare providers that are handling the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements. Italy, Spain, and France look to be weaker in terms of security strategies that must be aligned to the incoming GDPR legislation.

Implementing mobile device security and compliance with new regulations (e.g., GDPR) and data loss/leakage prevention are considered the most important security priorities of European healthcare providers in 2018.
