Abstract

This IDC Survey examines current trends in the CRD environment. The central reprographic department (CRD) or print room in an organization prints both internal and external client-facing documentation, from in-house newsletters to customer sales and marketing collateral. Our survey found that 40% of companies surveyed had a CRD or print room, but this percentage was higher in larger organizations, particularly in verticals such as the public sector and financial services. Market trends combined with technology improvements are bringing pages back in-house from being previously outsourced. Opportunities abound for vendors to help CRDs become more sophisticated and enhance their offerings. There is also scope for vendors to grow their businesses by combining office managed print services (MPS) contracts with CRD contracts.
