On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey presents selected results from IDC's 2018 Western Europe Cognitive/AI Survey. It focuses on findings most relevant to financial institutions (FIs) to help them understand the nature, plans, and concerns of their potential customers in this new market.

The survey was conducted in June 2018 with 350 business leaders from organizations across all major industry and government types spanning the major countries of Western Europe. It aimed to learn about how artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive solutions are currently viewed in Europe, as well as where and how they are likely to be most deployed in organizational functions. It outlines current and planned AI deployments and organizations' perceived opportunities, as well as drivers and barriers.

Respondents were drawn from C-level, IT, and line-of-business (LOB) functions. Topics covered include business areas using the technology, use cases, spending levels, and key drivers and inhibitors.

"It is the eleventh hour for European financial institutions to focus on AI solutions; the technology has matured and creates an opportunity for FIs and for financial technology (fintech) to deliver game-changing customer experience and increase productivity in core business processes," said Martin Stiller, senior research analyst at IDC Europe.
