This IDC Survey analyzes the result of the annual IDC Digital Transformation (DX) Executive Sentiment Survey, 2018, for the utility industry, comparing worldwide findings with European results. The survey was carried out in May 2018 and targeted C-suite executives, as well as managers responsible for IT and DX from all the value chain segments of the utilities industry. Survey data encompasses responses of senior executives from North America, Latin America, Asia/Pacific, Europe, and Japan.
This IDC Energy Insights presentation sheds light on utilities' approach to digital transformation in terms of strategy, organization, funding, and road map. It also highlights investment priorities, digital platform, and data management strategies, as well as the current adoption of digital success metrics.
"Overall, European utilities appear to lag in their digital transformation journeys compared with their global peers; they have been slower at creating dedicated DX departments, slower at establishing DX road maps, and less mature in their enterprise digital platform strategies. Nonetheless, progress is being made across Europe in all utilities across the value chain. Every DX journey is unique in pace and detail. We are confident that European utilities that are digitally determined will succeed in their transformation journeys," said Gaia Gallotti, research manager, IDC Energy Insights EMEA.
