Increasing Skills Diversity: A Profile of Tech Talent Charter U.K.

By: Marianne KoldingVice President, European Core Research Excellence Leader, European Skills Practice

Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective provides insight into Tech Talent Charter U.K. — a not-for-profit organization established to drive diversity into the technology workforce in the U.K. Members of the organization, which is backed by the U.K. government, share best practices and initiatives as well as work together to create awareness events — all to attract females into studies and training that will lead to a career in technology.

"There is a clear lack of technology skills across Europe — as there has been for a long time. But so far, no one has found the silver bullet to increase the attraction of a technology career to women. Solve this would really help increase the talent pool," said Marianne Kolding, vice president, European Skills Practice. "But stakeholders need to come together to address this issue rather than going alone — for this reason, the Tech Talent Charter initiative is really exciting to watch."
