Nordics Competence Market: Is the Skills Gap Real?

By: Martin SundbladResearch Manager

Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective analyzes data and trends for the skills and competence market (i.e., the market of acquiring, matching, and developing skills in an organization) in the Nordics. ICT skills are assets that organizations throughout Europe perceive a shortage in. However, around half (45%) of European CIOs indicate that limited expertise is the most important challenge in the progression of digital transformation. The need for a consistent strategy to manage skills sourcing, matching, and development will become a success factor for Nordic organizations moving into the next phase of digital transformation.

"We have already seen challenges in matching skills supply with demand from new technology, and these challenges will increase in the next five years. Organizations must work on several levels to overcome the shortage and not jeopardize quality and progress in projects and processes," said Martin Sundblad, research manager, IDC Nordics.
