Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight shows the impact that the lack of IT skills is having on European organizations. The document contains data from IDC's Technology Skills Survey, completed in December 2018. This global survey focuses on technology skills needed for important technologies and how organizations and individuals are obtaining these skills. Results of this survey also feed into IDC's forthcoming data products, which will forecast demand for technology roles and skills that will be needed for these roles.

"There is a clear lack of IT skills across Europe for many technologies. However, it has likely been less clear that this is not just an issue for the IT department. It is a crucial issue for the whole business to solve since impact is felt at the top and the bottom. Organizations must set a strong strategic plan for how to fill these technology skills to limit financial impact," said Marianne Kolding, vice president, European Skills: Leadership and Capabilities for Digital Transformation.
