This IDC Survey analyzes the results of IDC's Global IoT Decision Maker Survey 2019 on European life sciences organizations. It examines IoT innovation approaches and plans among European life sciences firms through the lenses of IDC's Digital Determination blueprint, considering the four pillars of digital determination: strategy, organization, financials, and platform. The study also provides key guidance for technology vendor and buyers.
The survey was conducted in June 2019 across multiple industries. The European life sciences sample consisted of 160 (81 pharmaceutical and 79 biotech) organizations with more than 100 employees.
"European life sciences firms are moving ahead actively with IoT adoption. Organizational and strategic immaturity, however, significantly undermines their ability to scale up IoT initiatives. To succeed, life science firms must integrate IoT efforts coherently into enterprise-wide digital strategies, envisioning a long-term digital transformation horizon and the broader ecosystem-wide goals." — Senior Research Analyst Nino Giguashvili, IDC Health Insights EMEA
