This IDC Market Perspective presents a European view of employee experience. It profiles two leading IT vendors, Orange Business Services and SAP (only its European operations), in their approach to drive employee experience. Employee experience essentially refers to how employees feel and engage at work with their managers, colleagues, customers, and other parties involved in the broad ecosystem of work. It encompasses their daily experience in the workplace (short-term view) to their sense of purpose and value to their organization (long-term view).
"Employees want to feel valued and empowered with tools and technology. They want to have the autonomy to achieve self-actualization through their own work," said Angela Salmeron, research manager, IDC's European Future of Work. "Employee experience is not only for Millennials and younger generations — workers, regardless of their age and job, ultimately want meaningful jobs and growth in their careers."
