Will the COVID-19 Outbreak Impact the Pace of Business Transition from Paper to Digital?

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight contains an extract of the results of an end-user study conducted in 2Q20 — amid the COVID-19 outbreak — by IDC's European Imaging, Printing and Document Solutions (IPDS) Research Group aimed at gaining insight into the market dynamics related to print and document management. It is one of a series of reports. In the past few years, the gradual pace of transition from paper to digital, automated business process has called into question the future of office printing. During the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent closure of many offices, which shifted employees to home-based working, there has been a negative impact on printed page volumes. This document discusses how companies see the interplay between print and digital in the next 12 months.
