This IDC Survey analyzes European hospitals' Big Data analytics (BDA) adoption and related trends, with a focus on BDA use cases and implementation examples in Europe.
IDC's European Vertical Markets Survey is an annual landmark study of IT solutions, investment priorities, and emerging technologies. This year, the sample covers over 77% of the European economy (in terms of the GDP of 40 countries), with the inclusion of Russia, Poland, and Czech Republic. The results are analyzed by vertical market and company size, and they will be the basis for a series of demand-side reports to be published under the European Vertical Markets and European Small and Medium Business Markets services, as well as in select European Industry Insights research services.
"European hospitals have recognized the need to better leverage their vast amounts of data, and they are investing in projects that foster data integration and interoperability to enable the usage of Big Data and advanced analytics, especially in key use cases such as clinical decision support and quality monitoring," said Giulia Besana, research analyst, IDC Health Insights EMEA.
"The survey finds that European hospitals see Big Data and analytics solutions as strategic in their quest to enhance the value they deliver to patients in terms of outcomes and patient experience. With the proliferation of data sources and greater integration in care delivery processes, besides investments in BDA solutions, hospitals will need to continue to focus on enhancing enterprise data management and governance capabilities. This will ensure the technical and organizational environment that will lead to the success and sustainability of BDA projects," said Silvia Piai, research director, IDC Health Insights EMEA.
