Abstract

This IDC Web Conference focuses on the impact of COVID-19 on European industries. The COVID-19 pandemic will continue to have a major impact on the wealth and investment capacity of European companies across verticals. But despite the common challenges, specific effects on the different verticals will be extremely varied and will have completely unexpected consequences in some spaces.

In the context of this general emergency, IT vendors must adapt their verticalization strategies to survive and thrive in the future. IT vendors face a tough challenge. On one hand, they need to be "creative disruptors," adjusting the offering across verticals to find a new edge. On the other hand, they need to be even more "efficient" than usual, identifying the optimal number of actions to fit in the current situation. In other words, IT vendors must become "crocodiles" — which are among the most ancient animals on earth able to survive across eras thanks to their resiliency and ability to adapt to unfavorable environments.

In this IDC webcast, Giulia Carosella, Vladimir Zivadinovic, Danielle Hernandez, and Stefano Perini from IDC European Research will discuss the latest IT trends across European industries and how the COVID-19 outbreak is impacting them, answering questions such as:

  • How are European verticals being affected by the COVID-19 outbreak?
  • How should IT vendors react and how should they adapt their own vertical strategies to remain competitive?
  • Where are the bright spots at this time of uncertainty?

The webcast will show how the European IT landscape is transforming and what actions are needed to take advantage of the current changes to implement a successful "crocodile" vertical strategy for 2020.
