This IDC Survey Spotlight illustrates the impact of COVID-19 on expected short-term and long-term spending on artificial intelligence (AI) systems on different market verticals. The document contains data from wave 3 of IDC's COVID-19 Impact Survey, completed on April 27.
"Most sectors are signaling that their spending on AI systems in 2020 could be significantly decreased in 2020, except for telecoms, media, and business services. However, when asked about their long-term spending on AI, respondents in every sector indicated a significant net increase in their AI spending as a result of COVID-19 beyond 2020. This indicates that there will likely be a V-shaped recovery within the European market for AI systems," said Jack Vernon, senior research analyst, IDC EMEA.
