The IDC Presentation examines the impact of COVID-19 on European unified communications and collaboration (EUCC). The presentation breaks down the impact in the near as well as medium and long term to reflect market dynamics in the post-pandemic world. The immediate impact will be relatively modest as there is limited flexibility to change, but the long-term impact will be driven by increasing recessionary pressure and alternative cloud-based options that are also more conducive to modern work patterns. The growth rate for EUCC has been revised upward, but this will be driven by cloud-based solutions that will be growing faster than anticipated. The associated decline in on-premises solutions will also be at an accelerated pace. Unified communications and collaboration has been one of the brightest spots in technology, with the increasing adoption of cloud-based UC applications helping to facilitate remote working in the face of restrictions on movement. As the world resumes to normal in the aftermath of the pandemic, remote working will become a new norm, leading to higher demand for collaboration applications. Please note these are preliminary numbers and subject to updates as IDC EUCC closely monitors the dynamic situation.
