This IDC Market Forecast presents a view of MFP shipments in Western Europe by channel, focusing on the indirect and direct channels. The indirect channel is split into "indirect — dealer/VAR/SI," "indirect — etailer," and "indirect — retail."

"The pandemic in 2020 saw many OEMs and their channel partners scramble to provide customers with MFP devices via online sales. Some leading brands saw strong shipments for home users as they enabled their main indirect channels to provide customers with packages (including subscription services and flexible print services) and benefited from excess customer demand. It is highly likely that online sales will continue to be strong over the forecast period for low-cost devices, but traditional channels will still be the choice for many businesses as relationships remain strong and online services simply cannot deliver the full range of print service offerings required for the future," said Phil Sargeant, program director, IDC Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions.
