Abstract

This IDC Perspective summarizes the key use cases and the most prominent suppliers for graph databases and provides examples of current usage and benefits. Graph database usage is increasing rapidly in Europe as experience and knowledge of its benefits spreads, supported by increasing marketing activity and development functionality from graph database vendors.

"The graph database is a powerful platform for representing, storing, and analyzing large sets of interconnected data," said Philip Carnelley, AVP of software research at IDC Europe. "This enables companies to implement important business use cases in new and more efficient ways, making practical analyses and automating operations in ways that were not practical or cost-effective with other techniques. As a result, we are seeing usage and investment in graph growing rapidly among European companies."
