On-line Presentation

Abstract

COVID-19 has impacted and continues to impact European organizations and their IT spending in a significant way. However, this effect has been and will still be variable across industries, as highlighted by the mapping of European verticals into the five-stage IDC Recovery Curve. While some were just slightly impacted by the pandemic and are now even accelerating to the "next normal," others have been deeply affected and are still in the middle of the crisis.

Even though the traditional industry snapshot can provide a good overview of how organizations are investing in IT, differences across subindustries are also emerging and becoming more marked. For this reason, in this IDC Presentation three industries with different recovery paths (manufacturing, retail, banking) and their subindustries are analyzed and positioned along the IDC recovery curve. The approach, which can be replicated for any other vertical, shows how those deep dives can help IT vendors to avoid hidden threats and identify unexpected opportunities to make their vertical strategy completer and more effective.
