Abstract
This IDC Survey provides insights into organizations' drivers and use cases for investing in data analytics. It is based on responses to IDC's European Data Market (EDM) Survey in August 2021.
Organizations can access, buy, and sell more data today than ever before. Data usage gives them a competitive advantage in financial and business terms, but how many of them are really leveraging data to improve business processes and generate revenue? What are the barriers they have to overcome and how they are facing the lack of data-trained personnel? This survey addresses these questions and provides a deeper understanding about:
- The kinds of data and tools that are used in today's organizations in Europe
- Current benefits and barriers in adopting data analytics
- European companies' attitudes and plans around analytics usage and the data market
This data is based on feedback collected from 1,191 respondents across Europe. Respondents come from organizations representing 12 key industries and five company size segments in 13 countries.
"Today, business benefits due to the implementation of data analytics are more evident to European companies than financial advantages. Although all cited business benefits should ultimately lead to financial benefits in theory, it is often more difficult for organizations to measure these benefits and attribute them directly to data-driven innovation," said Giovanni Cervellati, research manager at IDC.
