Abstract

This IDC Web Conference, which took place on July 28, 2021, features the IDC European Research team taking stock of the 2021 European digital market scenario. The team shared their views on the winds of change blowing in Europe and the actions IT providers need to take to lead in the post-pandemic race.

The first half of 2021 proved to be a period of exceptional growth for the technology sector in Europe. IDC forecasts that IT spend will reach a 7% year-over-year growth for the full year, which would mark a record for the past 15 years.

As we head toward a digital-first world, technology is becoming the primary instrument for success and survival of European organizations. However, the future remains uncertain and fluid, with choppy winds of change continuing to blow over the European business environment. Business and technology leaders need to be increasingly more resilient as they navigate toward the Future Enterprise.

Among the winds of change, IDC's European Industry Acceleration Survey shows that the following global trends will steer European executives' agendas the most in 2021:

  • Remote work transition. Unlocking dynamic, intelligent, and agile work models and places
  • Business model transformation.Creating pervasive and seamlessly experiences for customers and citizens
  • Autonomous technologies. Leveraging advanced technologies such as cloud, AI, and extreme automation to deliver digital resiliency

However, the speed at which European organizations get ROI from their technology investments will be key to leaving the crisis behind. This presentation answers the following questions: How can tech providers play a role in supporting European industries to navigate the winds? Where are the market pockets of hyper-growth? What does it take to be a Future Enterprise enabler?
