Abstract

This IDC Perspective looks at the important role of collaboration tools in the development of new hybrid models and how they will be used to affect the work culture of different organizations. Different hybrid work archetypes will breed different types of culture that will prioritize certain values and metrics over others, changing the way work is done for millions of employees. The role of collaborative tools in enabling an agile, flexible, and creative culture under these novel circumstance is crucial.

"The pandemic revealed the cracks in the ways that we learned to collaborate, share knowledge, and innovate, testing our organizations' ability to support different models of work. As we slowly exit the pandemic and look at the future with changed eyes, it is imperative to reconsider the options at our disposal not only regarding work models, tools, and applications, but also how these will affect the work culture and how can we ensure all employees have an equal chance to contribute and partake in a common experience. The role of technology in all of the above is crucial, and there is a lot of learning that we have to do in anticipation of the changes that the post-pandemic world will bring," said Alexandros Stratis, research manager, IDC Europe.
