Public Cloud's Contribution to the European Economy: A Macroeconomic Approach
Abstract
This IDC Market Perspective assesses the impact of public cloud technology on some of the most important economic aspects of the European economy. The analysis is based on the latest version of the IDC Economic Impact Model, which leverages official data and IDC spending data from 2016 to 2020. The report concludes with recommendations for IT providers based on the key findings of the research.
"The multiplier effect of every additional dollar in the revenue of public cloud providers is representative of the current and future role of this technology in driving economic growth in Europe," said Luca Butiniello, research analyst, European Customer Insights & Analysis. "This effect is something policymakers and organizations investing in public cloud will need to consider when evaluating the impact of this technology.
“Cloud computing can also positively impact the economy in terms of a highly skilled workforce," said Carla La Croce, senior research analyst, European Customer Insights & Analysis.
"European organizations are looking for reliable and secure technologies to continue on their path to digitalization. Cloud computing combines all these capabilities, accelerates technology adoption, and makes organizations more sustainable," added Filippo Vanara, research analyst, IDC European multicloud management.
