Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines a portion of the IDC Worldwide IT and Operational Technology (OT) Convergence Survey carried out in July 2022. The research surveyed 153 energy and water utilities in Europe, covering France, Germany, the Netherlands, Nordic countries, and the U.K.

This report is the first of a series of documents unveiling how European utilities are progressively converging aspects of their organizations, processes, and technology across IT and operations. Among others, this includes IT and OT convergence strategies, drivers, challenges, use cases, business value, and partner ecosystems.

This IDC Survey Spotlight covers utility expectations regarding the prospective growth of their daily operational data throughput and where they expect this new data to be stored and processed. It also compares the 2022 results with the earlier edition of this survey in 2020.
