Abstract
This IDC Presentation overviews the motivation to become data-driven and build enterprise intelligence. It shows how trust and engagement are critical success factors that run right through the different transformations and why the necessary transformations should be driven from the C-suite downward.
European companies have aspired to become data-driven in their culture, operations, and decision making for many years, but few have truly achieved this. IDC research indicates that success in becoming data-driven rests in creating capability in what we call enterprise intelligence. For this, European organizations need to transform their approaches to data and analytics at several levels: culture, tools and applications, data pipelines, and platforms. Furthermore, all those transformations need to encompass and foster two golden threads: engagement with analytics and data across the enterprise, linked to trust in the data and analytics.
"Building a data-driven enterprise — with its greater resilience, innovation, agility, and higher potential for improved business results — has never been more important," said Philip Carnelley, AVP of software and analytics research, IDC Europe. "It has become clear that chief analytics and data officers and their organizations need to work on building a data culture based on trust and engagement across the organization if they are to successfully transform their businesses to become data-driven."
