European IT Employment Forecast, 2020–2025
Abstract
This IDC Market Forecast describes the size and growth of IT professionals' employment by role and region for 2020 to 2025. It includes our forecast across 41 different job roles and analyzes key factors influencing IT professional employment. It also reviews survey results highlighting the impact of the lack of IT professional skills on organizations.
"Demand for IT skills remain very strong. Europe will, for the foreseeable future, have a challenge in building enough new skills to meet this demand. It has become a challenge for IT training, for the education system, and for all technology implementors and providers to build enough skills to enable digital transformation. The rapid development of technology also means shifts in skills sets for the job roles in ICT. We foresee that for most job roles covered in this forecast, the technology specific skill sets will have changed completely in the next 10 years. IT vendors and their clients need to focus on continuous upskilling so that skills are "kept up-to-date,"" said Martin Sundblad, research manager and head of IDC's European Skills Research.
